Canine
Companions are taught working commands from the time they are puppies
with more advanced commands when they attend Advanced Training.
They learn over 50 commands to help them perform certain tasks that
their graduate may ask of them. Some of these are:
HERE:
Tells the dog to come to you and sit in front of you and remain
there until the next command is given.
LETS
GO: Tells the dog to walk beside you on a loose leash without
forging or sniffing.
SIT:
Tells the dog to sit and stay until the next command is given.
DOWN:
Tells the dog to lie down and stay.
STAND:
Tells the dog to stand on all four feet from a SIT or DOWN position
and remain there until the next command is given.
ROLL:
Tells the dog to roll over on its back, exposing its underside for
inspection.

STAY:
Tells the dog to remain in an exact position.
WAIT:
Tells the dog not to cross a threshold or barrier. This command
does not require that the dog remain in an exact position.
RELEASE:
Tells the dog that it is free to do as it wishes.
DONT:
Stops the dog from doing something.
LEAVE:
Tells the dog not to sniff or lick a person, another animal or object
on the ground.
QUIET:
Tells the dog to stop barking, whining, or making another
noise.
OFF:
Tells the dog to get down off something or someone.

DRESS:
Tells the dog to calmly place its head through the training cape
or collar.
CAR:
Tells the dog to get into a vehicle.
VISIT:
Tells the dog to rest its head on your lap and leave it there
until told the OFF command.
LAP:
Tells the dog to place its front feet cross your lap.
JUMP:
Tells the dog to jump on top of something, i.e. a grooming table
or some elevated surface.
BED:
Tells the dog to go to its designated bed and lie down.
UNDER:
Tells the dog to crawl under a small space, i.e. desk, table, and
lie down.
BACK:
Tells the dog to walk backwards.
KENNEL:
Tells the dog to go to its kennel or crate and stay there until
the RELEASE command is given.
