General Federation
of Women's Clubs Canine Companions for Independence is proud of its long association with the General Federation for Womens Clubs, which has generously supported CCI for many years through its Home Life Department. Each year, CCI recognizes the top club in each of the GFWCs four regions with awards presented at the GFWC International Convention. The GFWC includes more than 6,500 clubs in the United States and more than 20 countries. Its members support the arts, preserve natural resources, promote education, encourage healthy lifestyles, stress civic involvement, and work toward world peace and understanding. Lions Project
for Canine Companions for Independence Lions Club participation dates back to CCIs very beginnings in the mid-1970s. Lions and Lioness's in Northern California were the first volunteers recruited by CCI to serve as puppy raisers and breeder caretakers. Interest grew and the Lions Project was formed in 1983 to coordinate and support efforts of Lions, Lioness and Leo Clubs across the United States through a Club Membership and volunteer program. Clubs are invited to join the LPCCI family of member clubs that make an annual pledge to LPCCI. Life Memberships, LPCCI fellowships and Abdul Awards are wonderful ways to honor a respected member of your club. Other
